Synopsis from the May 4th, 2016 Wednesday City Council meeting, per the Additional Harbor Access:

“…Approved an agreement with a legal firm to work with City staff for the establishment of an assessment program/methodology for the Additional Harbor Access District.  Area Realtors have been provided the following update on the project.

  • Bird Cut East (AKA Alligator Creek Cut) has been selected as the site.
  • A contract has been issued to the consulting engineer for design, environmental study and permitting.
  • An assessment on benefited properties has been approved as the most appropriate project funding mechanism.
  • Staff has been directed to enter into discussions with the property owner whose land would need to be acquired for access.

Timing of the project design and permitting is 660 calendar days. However, due to coordination with several state and federal regulatory agencies, it could take 3-4 years.”

[NOTE: this last comment has caused some discussion within the Alligator Creek Access committee members, who feel that the project is still on track for the 2-year completion. Watch for more on this.]
