Summer has finally arrived… however it seems like we have been experiencing summer heat all spring. It is time to get your boats out and enjoy the waters of Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico before it gets too hot.
At our last meeting we had some very informative reports from Officer Kennedy of the PG Police Department, Cathy Miller from the City of Punta Gorda, and Ann Taylor from the Maritime Committee. Ron Jones also gave us an update of the installation of the weather station. The members of the board also provided valuable information. Thanks to all of you.
A couple of the highlights: The weather station is close to being installed. Marker 4 has been repaired and is ready for the equipment; The members voted to support the cut proposed in Port Charlotte, provided it does not impact the environment; and new information, in the form of a booklet, is available to canal home owners from the city.
The members of PGBA voted to suspend meetings until September. I will continue to update you through “The Presidents Message” each month.
As many of you know I underwent open heart surgery about 8 weeks ago. I appreciate the concern expressed by many of you. I am back to full speed now. In fact, I just returned from two weeks in Peru where I climbed Machu Picchu and traveled up the Amazon River and spent number of days in the Amazon Rain Forest.
Have a great summer. I will look forward to seeing each of you at our September meeting.
